(Dan Tri) – US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi went to Taiwan’s legislature on the morning of August 3 and had a meeting with the island’s leader Tsai Ing-wen.

`We came for friendship with Taiwan, we came for peace in the region,` US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said during a meeting with Taiwan Institute Legislative Deputy Director Tsai Qichang this morning, March 3
Ms. Pelosi said she `wanted to increase discussions` between the two legislatures.
Ms. Pelosi also said that the US Chip Bill will bring good opportunities for cooperation between the US and Taiwan in the chip industry.
For his part, Mr. Tsai praised Ms. Pelosi as a `true friend` of Taiwan.
`I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to the US Congress for your concrete actions in providing steadfast support to Taiwan,` Mr. Tsai said.
Mr. Tsai said Ms. Pelosi’s visit with the US Congressional delegation showed `the strongest protection and reinforcement of the values of democracy and freedom`.
After meeting with representatives of the Taiwanese legislature, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives also met with Taiwanese leader Tsai Ing-wen.

Ms. Pelosi and Ms. Tsai Ing-wen entered the room together, waving to reporters and officials, before introducing the members of the delegation.
`Today, our delegation arrived in Taiwan to make clear, unequivocally, that we will not abandon our commitment to Taiwan and we are proud of our enduring friendship,` he said.
The military plane carrying House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and a high-ranking delegation of the US Congress landed at Songshan Air Base in Taipei City, Taiwan on the evening of August 2 local time.
In her first message after setting foot on the island, Ms. Pelosi affirmed that the visit of the high-ranking US Congressional delegation `does not go against America’s consistent policy on the Taiwan issue`.
Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng summoned US Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns to strongly protest US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan.
Beijing said that Ms. Pelosi’s presence `undermines peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait`, and warned the US that it was on a `dangerous path`.
