A few hours ago, the homepage of Manchester United club officially announced the first rookie of 2021, the `blockbuster` contract from Atalanta Amad Diallo.
The 18-year-old player signed a contract with MU in the summer of 2020, but it was not until this winter transfer window that he was able to join the Old Trafford team because of paperwork issues.
Amad Diallo officially landed at MU.
Diallo moved to MU for 37 million pounds, a huge amount of money for a very young and unknown player.
Diallo’s full name is Amad Diallo TraorĂ© – but he recently dropped the last name TraorĂ© – born in Abidjan, Ivory Coast’s largest city, then moved to Italy with his brother – currently a player for Sassuolo
Diallo started his career at local side Boca Barco in 2014 at the age of 12, where he quickly attracted the attention of Serie A teams. In 2015, Diallo signed for Atalanta and began playing for
Through age groups, he continuously impressed his parent team – scoring regularly for U15 and U17 teams at major Italian tournaments.
Amad Diallo has progressed very quickly at Atalanta’s youth levels.
Diallo’s first team debut came in October 2019, when he came off the bench against Udinese in the 79th minute and just a few minutes later, he scored his first goal in a 7-
Despite making rapid progress in his young career, Diallo still does not feature regularly in the first team.
Man United did not think so, and Diallo immediately moved to the Northwest of England to continue his career in the first month of 2021.
According to reports from MU’s scouting team, Amad Diallo mainly plays on the right wing, tends to cut the ball into the middle and uses passing skills to defeat the opponent’s defensive players.
The 18-year-old can play brilliantly with both feet, contribute intelligent assists and can create scoring opportunities himself, as shown in his debut for Atalanta.
Speed, vision and ability to dribble are Diallo’s strengths.
Diallo has quite good speed both with and without the ball, which helps him pass the ball past opponents and create opportunities for his teammates.
However, Diallo has only made 5 appearances for Atalanta, two of them this season, so it will be difficult to expect him to regularly appear in the MU first team squad, especially
Striker Papu Gomez, who directly watched Diallo on the training field, was so impressed by the 18-year-old player that he compared him to superstar Lionel Messi.
`There are defenders in the first team who sometimes cannot stop this kid. Diallo plays like Messi, we have to make mistakes if we want to get the ball at his feet,` Atalanta’s captain said.
Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke about his new student when the transfer to MU was officially confirmed:
`We have followed Amad for many years, I myself have watched this boy play and I believe he is one of the most promising young players in the world.`
`It will take some time for him to adapt to English football but his speed, vision and excellent dribbling ability will give him a solid foundation to develop. He has all the attributes.`
